ChangeControl™ FAQ

Q:  What is ChangeControl?

A:  It's a free configuration control system available on SFDC's App Exchange.  Its purpose is to manage feature/bug requests, reviews, approvals, and execution projects.

Q:  Is it compatible with SFDC Pro Edition?

A:  To be of any real use, ChangeControl requires workflow functionality that is part of Unlimited and Enterprise Editions of SFDC.

Q:  What's in the upcoming version, what features will it add, and when does it come out?

A:  We don't know.  You tell us

Q:  ChangeControl creates a new tab in the system.  Can we turn it off?

A:  Sure, you can turn it want through SFDC's Tab Customization system.

Q:  Our system is out of tabs -- EE only supports 50 of them, even if most of them are off.  What can we do?

A:  Not much, other than ask for an upgrade to Unlimited Edition.

Q:  How do we get this beast to uninstall?

A:  Before you uninstall, use the data loader to export all your data.  You never know when you'll want it back.  Uninstall is fairly automatic, but you may have to remove the workflows you set up for approval cycles.  Once that's done, just follow the standard package uninstall sequence in SFDC.

Q:  Where is all this data stored, and how can we get to it?

A:  ChangeControl creates a couple of tables in your SFDC instance, in the form of Custom Objects.  These can be examined from the SFDC UI, reported on, or interrogated via the Salesforce API (using the Excel connector, the Data Loader, or your favorite web service application).
